Introducing the Dynacraft Avatar Evolution Series

Instead of rushing products to market, Hireko is rolling out new models as they become available. This is no more evident than one clubhead series that just missed our 2011 catalog deadline called the Dynacraft Avatar Evolution series. In just a quick few weeks, these exciting new clubheads are finally due to arrive. Those of you who were fortunate to attend the annual PGA Merchandise show in late January got a glimpse or what we have been working on. Here is a chance for the general public to finally get a sneak peek of the new Dynacraft Avatar Evolution series.

Pushing the Envelope on Forgiveness

You have heard the term that bigger is better? In golf club design that often translates into added forgiveness and the Dynacraft Avatar Evolution is the poster child. It has been proven that as the mass is spread out it increases the forgiveness or that fancy term “moment of inertia” you have heard over and over again. In simple terms it is to make your off-center shot less penalizing and retain a greater amount of distance and feel. However most drivers sold today are at the maximum allowable size (460cc) under the Rules of Golf, so how you make the club bigger?

The answer is to make better use of the volume. In this diagram you will see the large footprint of the Dynacraft Avatar Evolution, with the red dotted line represented a typical profile of a 460cc driver. The Evolution has the footprint of a 512cc driver, but still manages to measure within the legal limit plus maintain a deep face. Bigger is indeed better.

Super-thin Crown Technology

But that is only part of the story how the Dynacraft Evolution is pushing the envelope by making this our highest moment of inertia driver. Using a new construction technique, we shed weight from the only place possible – the crown area. Our super-thin crown technology allows additional discretionary weight to be at our disposal for even greater forgiveness and at the same time ensures the center of gravity is in the right place to create those high launching, tape measure drives.

Fairway Woods to Broaden Your Horizons

The same thinking that went into the drivers has been transformed into the matching fairway wood series. Most golfers don’t get pumped up about fairway woods. Well in this case they should. The ultra-wide footprint at address will instantly give even a high-handicapped golfer renewed confidence from the fairway, rough or even the tee.

Our idea for the thin-crown technology spawned in our fairways three years ago and the Dynacraft Avatar Evolution is no exception pushing needless weight from the crown to the sole. Coupled with their low profile, this places weight extremely low and deep within the head for superior results. And of course, we added our variable crown thickness for that awesome sound and feel at impact.

Finally, both the drivers and fairways are finished in a beautiful non-glare, pearlized white finish. Watch your game evolve this year with the new Dynacraft Avatar Evolution series.

New 2011 Acer XF Leggera Titanium Driver Awarded “Great Buy” By Golf Tips Magazine!

Golf Tips Magazine  awarded the new 2011 Acer XF Leggera Driver a “Great Buy” in their May, 2011 issue.

You can read the full Golf Tips Awards Acer XF Leggera a Great Buy Award here.

Except from Golf Tips:

“What We Like: What a great price. Furthermore, the overall shaping is a step in the right direction for Acer. And in case you’re wondering, yes, the crown section is white. Shhhh…”

Golfers try to obtain more distance by using a lighter weight shaft, which most do so already. But that is only half of the equation if someone is seeking additional distance. The other component for tape measure drives is to increase the club length for greater leverage. But there is a potential problem: existing head weights are too heavy, creating a club that feels unwieldy.

The solution is the Acer XF Leggera. A lighter weight head, which when married to today’s lighter and longer length shafts, reduces the overall weight of the club for an even faster clubhead speed. Featuring advanced manufacturing which sheds the weight from only the crown area and ensures the center of gravity is in the right place to create those monstrous drives you have only dreamed of.

Greed is good, so go long and not wrong, with the Acer XF Leggera.

Note: The recommended clublength of Acer XF Leggera is 46″.

Acer XK Leggera Titanium Custom Assembled Driver $104.95 each

So when a pro does it, does that mean it’s ok?

Hybrids Rule

If I asked you if any touring professional playing today had in the bag an iron no longer than a #7, you might think I am pulling your leg. What if I told you it was true? Well if you think this bag belongs to a member of the LPGA or possibly the Champion’s Tour, guess again. What if I told you that this was a member of the PGA Tour and on the grandest stage of all – The Masters? And yes, this player made the cut. As a matter of fact he finished tied for 8th. So I applaud K.J. Choi for not only finishing in the Top 10, but doing something many other golfers should emulate – ditching the harder to hit long and even mid irons for the more forgiving hybrids.

It’s true, at this year’s Master’s, Choi put into play 4 hybrids eliminating any iron longer than the #7. His reasoning was to hit the ball higher so it would land more softly on the ultra fast greens at Augusta, which paid off handsomely. So let this be a lesson for all, if it is good enough for a pro to do something unconventional, maybe you should too especially if you are struggling or looking to improve your score.

Speaking of hybrids, the new Acer XF and XF Draw hybrids are slated to arrive this week. The difference between the two is the location of the hosel. In the standard version, the hosel is set back like a fairway wood which is becoming the more popular straight-neck hosel configuration on the market today. Plus it is also available from a #2 down to a #6 (in RH) just in case you want to duplicate K.J.’s bag.

The XF Draw has what is referred to as a semi-offset hosel. It is really not offset like an iron, but the hosel is offset or closer to the leading edge of the club helping to square up the face for those that may normally fade or push the ball.

This is just a sampling of why the Acer XF series is the most versatile line in golf today!

Re-shaft With Confidence

Did you know Hireko offers a full line of specialty ferrules to re-shaft a number of name brand clubs and do it the right way?  Well, we do!  A few companies such as Callaway, Nike, Ping and TaylorMade require specialty ferrules other than what are commonly found. The reason is many of the heads are counter-bored and requires part of the ferrule to fit inside the hosel or the outside diameter of the hosel is larger than normal and requires a special ferrule.

Ferrule for Taylor Made R7 Irons
$4.25

Ferrule for Callaway Woods – 0.335
$1.95

Shaft Conversion Ferrule .350/.335
$4.00

Ferrule for Callaway Woods – 0.350
$1.95

Ferrule for Ping G Series Woods – 0.350
$8.45

Ferrule for Taylor Made Woods – 0.350
$8.45

2° Ferrule for Taylor Made & Ping Woods
$9.35

2° Ferrule for Callaway Woods
$9.35

While our catalog and website explain what specialty ferrule goes into what models, there are a few additions I would like to add to those.  For example, the ferrule for the TaylorMade R7 irons will not only fit the R7 and the R9, but also the newer Burner irons too.  The specialty ferrule for many of the Callaway woods will also fit the Diablo and the FT-9.

Many of the OEM clubs use .350” shafts but many of our replacement wood ferrules are sized to allow the use of 0.335” which are more common and offer a wider variety.  Aside from the product specific model, we offer a generic 0.350” shaft conversion ferrule to use a 0.335” shaft.  However, we do stock the popular replacement models from Callaway, Ping and TaylorMade to use the original 0.350” shaft size as well.

We even offer ferrules for face angle or called “clock” ferrule.  The 2º Ferrule for TaylorMade (& Ping) woods as well as the 2º Ferrule for Callaway woods fit most of the newer models.  By rotating the ferrule into the head you are able to change the face angle instead of accepting how it came from the factory.  Instructions are included, but make sure to use the flap and the alignment line marked on these unique ferrules to alter the lie and effective loft via face angle.

So next time you have a re-shaft of a name brand driver you can re-shaft with confidence and do it right the first time.

Hireko Now Offering KBS and FST Steel Shafts

Variety!  That is what our customers want and exactly what Hireko is committed to by providing them with a wide variety of products to fit into any budget or skill level. That is why we are proud to now offer the full line of steel shafts from KBS and FST to our already extensive product line.

FST

FST is short for FEMCO Steel Technology.  While not a household name, FST manufactures steel shafts to strict tolerances in both weight and flex to make assembly simpler and more consistent for custom clubmakers.

FST 115 Steel
$5.95 each

FST Pro 125 Stepless Steel
$9.95 each

FST 90 Steel
$8.95 each

FST 125 Steel
$5.95 each

FST Pro Putter Shaft
$4.95 each

FST Pro 115 Stepless Steel
$9.95 each

FST shafts are available in weights of 90g (ultra-light), 115g (light weight) and 125g (standard weight) and in some case stepped and stepless varieties.  Each shaft is parallel tip and offered in combination flexes to cut down on inventory.  However, the combo flexes aren’t the normal fare clubmakers usually find.

A few of the FST shafts come in what is called an A/R designation, which means they can be cut to senior (A) or regular (R) flex.  The other designation is S/X which means it can be cut to a stiff (S) or extra stiff (X) from a single shaft depending upon how it is cut.  Their longer raw shaft lengths are suitable for a wide variety of custom clubmaking options.

KBS
The KBS steel brand is manufactured by FST, but designed for better players in mind.  The KB in KBS stands for Kim Braly who is the chief designer and if you aren’t aware, Kim and his father Dr. Joe where the ones responsible for the concept of frequency matching shafts / assembled golf clubs.

As I said the KBS brand was designed for better players who prefer a particular feel.  That is why their shafts are designed in both parallel and taper tip options.  The parallel tip shafts are designed to fit any Hireko model.

The taper tip shafts are available in dedicated lengths for each iron to produce a constant weight shaft sets. Constant weight provides more mass or weight than parallel tip shafts, especially in the scoring clubs where accuracy and control are at a premium. While the tapered offering are designed to be assembled into any of our heads, they are available to retro-fit existing OEM or name brand irons and wedges which require taper tip shafts.

The flagship shaft in the line is the KBS Tour, which is also available in a beautiful black nickel finish along with the traditional high polished chrome.  The KBS Tour’s weight and stiffness are progressive with the weight increasing and the ball flight lower the stiffer the flex.

The KBS Tour 90 is a 22% lighter weight version with a softer feel.  Now we finally offer a hybrid specific steel shaft in our line in the KBS Hybrid.  Rounding out the line are two taper tipped wedge shafts.  There is the more piercing trajectory KBS Black Nickel wedge and the KBS Hi-Rev for those who desire a high ball flight and increased spin.

This is yet another reason for us to be your one stop source for all your equipment needs.

Supplying the brands you or your customers demand in order to help one play their very best is just part of what Hireko strives to accomplish.

This Seeing Eye Dog Will Hunt: Meet the New Power Play Adrenaline Iron

Just arrived and now in stock is the latest in Power Play Adrenaline line – the smokin’ hot Adrenaline irons. What makes these unique?  Well several things for one so let me explain the three key features that sets it apart.

Redefining an Oversized Iron
Irons are available in all sorts of shapes and sizes and this is what helps define the function the designer imagined. For instance, an iron with a wide sole and golfers will immediately know that is has a higher concentration of weight low to help get the ball up in the air. Or perhaps the head is shallow or not tall from top to bottom. This too would indicate the weight is low and designed to hit the ball higher.

The Adrenaline iron can be described as an oversized iron. Well, at least it has the largest effective hitting surface of any iron Hireko currently offers. This means from heel-to-toe and from top-to-bottom there is more room for error instilling not only more confidence, but adding much needed forgiveness on the off-center shots.

Hybrid Construction
Oversize irons can pose a challenge. On one hand they are very forgiving – on at least paper. But as I mentioned before the shape of the head defines where ultimately the center of gravity will end up. Once you make an iron deeper or taller, the center of gravity will rise making it more difficult to get the ball in the air. Make the head longer and longer and it can make the head harder to square up at impact. So there is a right way and a wrong way to produce an oversized iron.

The Adrenaline iron may have a large hitting surface, but it also has a wider sole to help offset the weighting. The rear of the club with an amazing 38% of the weight concentrated here. The two-piece construction is built on the principles of a hybrid but in the end looks like an iron.

The Eye’s Have It
Another reason why the Adrenaline iron is so forgiving has to do with its Tri-Cavity weighting system. If you are wondering what a Tri-Cavity is, well it is 3 cavities as they appear in the back of the head. The picture is not deceiving – those are actually two openings or eyes so-to-speak. This is what gives it the distinctive appearance as well as its performance.

The Power Play Adrenaline iron is going to provide that WOW factor the very first time you see it in person, but more importantly the first and each time you play them!
