Mark:

Don't underestimate the value of hitting solidly on the face. For one, you get more energy transfer to the ball. Secondly, you build confidence and that can allow you to reach back a little more. All were S-flex shaft and my SS is just north of 100.

Stand further from the ball is tough because you might set up to the ball in what looks right. It could be as simple as the club being too upright ,your hands positioned too high or an incorrect length. You can always grip down on the club to simulate the shorter length and subsequent flatter effective lie and see if it makes any difference. That would be my first suggestion.

Jeff,

Did you ever reach a conclusion as to why the large ball speed increase by basically just changing shafts? Is it that the NV65 shaft is just that much better suited to your swing speed/tempo? I assume that the CT-58 shaft was an S flex as well. I looked up DSFI data for the masterflex and NV65 shafts and they were quite different. I assume that your swing speed is in the 100mph area and that a shaft change of similar wt. would not signifcantly effect it.
I did go out over the weekend and try various weight combinations in my driver. The high swingweight combinations hit the ball lower on the face. No matter what combinations or positions(3 wt port head) I tried I tend to hit most shots on the heel side of the face. Any idea what cause/cure for this may be? Stand farther from ball? Shaft length change?

Mark:

Parts 2 and 3 are embedded in the article as it is divided into multiple sections. The fitting book, well that is a work in progress...
